Owner and principal of Birch Corner Associates, Peggy MacArthur brings a depth of life experience and breadth of professional accomplishment to her role as coach. She understands firsthand the demands and rewards not only of striving for peak performance but also of finding satisfaction and joy in living. Peggy's professional experiences include four careers. She was a nationally ranked competitive figure skater and spent several years training and coaching aspiring skaters. While parenting four children she served as human resource manager at the global headquarters of Energizer. In addition to working full time at Energizer she completed her MSW degree and fulfilled the requirements to become a licensed clinical social worker. Her third career was as a therapist focused on individuals and the dynamics of family systems.
For the past decade she has applied life lessons learned as a parent and grandparent with what she has discovered in her professional pursuits. As a coach she now helps individuals navigate major life transitions and entrepreneurs launch small businesses.
In addition to her work with her own clients, Peggy coaches students enrolled in the two-year Equine Gestalt Coaching Method® certification program. She mentors the coaching team and advises the founder of the program, Melisa Pearce.
Recently, Peggy completed training with Alan Seale and is a Certified Transformational Presence Coach®. She believes that individuals, groups and organizations have the wisdom within to resolve their challenges and that her role is to help them tap into that wisdom to discover their own answers.
Peggy has her BA from Drew University and her MSW from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University. In addition to her training and practices as a systems therapist and Certified Transformational Presence Coach®, she is a Reiki Master Teacher of the Usui System of Reiki Healing. She practices Hatha yoga and enjoys tending her vegetable and flower gardens.
President of Birch Corner Associates, Bob MacArthur is a seasoned leader who brings a variety of experiences to his clients. He is an accomplished Executive Coach, Life Coach and Facilitator of groups, meetings and retreats.
For 19 years he was President and CEO of theAmerican Youth Foundation, a national nonprofit youth development organization. An innovative programmer and manager, Bob led AYF through a period of significant growth, developing year round programs at sites in Missouri, Michigan, New Hampshire and California. His experience as chief executive grounded him in all aspects of nonprofit leadership and management, including program design and delivery, board relations, fund development, external and alumni relations, human resources and risk management. He led AYF through two capital campaigns that raised over $30 million to renovate and construct facilities at three sites and to endow scholarships and ongoing maintenance.
For 12 years Bob directed the Dartmouth Outward Bound Center, integrating the national character development program within the academic and residential life of a major university. He also served an interim year as College Chaplain and Dean of the William Jewett Tucker Foundation, coordinating programs to foster the moral and spiritual growth of Dartmouth students. An effective collaborator, Bob has worked with heads of business, education, government, community-based organizations, corporate foundations and private philanthropies. Recognized as a leader in national and community service, he helped bring AmeriCorps to the city of St. Louis public schools in 1995. In 1997 the White House asked him to lead the St. Louis delegation to the Presidents' Summit in Philadelphia which launched America's Promise. Bob is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. He is a Certified Self Management Coach (CSMC) and a member of the consultants network of the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits. He coaches executives, senior management teams, educational leaders, small business owners, independent professionals and nonprofit boards to improve performance and accountability.
Valuing fitness from his days as a varsity athlete, Bob maintains physical conditioning through running, weight training and splitting wood. He has run five marathons, including qualifying for and completing the Boston marathon at age 60. He practices meditation, posts periodically in his Sacred Lead blog and enjoys the beauty of the land and wildlife at Birch Corner.
